Google will launch an update that will effect 11.8% of search engine query results. The update is designed to reduce the rankings of low quality websites that rely on copied content and use keyword spamming and boost the performance of sites with quality well written content.

Initially, the update will only be applied to US search results, with the rest of the world receiving updates over an unspecified period of time. Read the whole blog entry.
